Why isn't my ShowerStar recording my shower duration?
If your ShowerStar isn't tracking your shower time or detecting water flow, it usually means the device isn't sensing the vibration of the water moving through the pipe.
Because the ShowerStar uses smart flow detection to turn on automatically—with no buttons to press—it needs a secure connection to your shower pipe to work correctly.
Follow these simple steps to get your device tracking again.
1. Check for App Updates
Ensure you have the latest version of the TouchGrid App installed on your phone.
-
iPhone users: Check the App Store.
-
Android users: Check the Google Play Store.
2. Check your Firmware
Open the TouchGrid App and ensure your ShowerStar device has the latest firmware version uploaded. The app will notify you if an update is required.
3. Check the Mounting Cradle (Important)
For the sensor to detect water flow, the cradle must be mounted firmly.
-
Check that the zip ties are fastened very tightly around the shower pipe.
-
If the cradle is loose, the sensor cannot "feel" the water running.
-
Remember, this is a simple DIY install that requires no tools or a plumber.
4. Check Device Insertion
Ensure the main ShowerStar unit is fully inserted into the mounting cradle. It should sit flush and secure.
5. Adjust Location and Perform Learn Mode
If the device is secure but still not recording:
-
Try mounting the cradle at a different location on the pipe (sometimes moving it a few centimetres up or down helps capture better vibration).
-
Perform Learn Mode via the app to recalibrate the sensor to the new position.
