Why isn't my ShowerStar sensing water flow?

Your ShowerStar is designed with smart flow detection to turn on automatically—no buttons to press. If your device isn't waking up when you start your shower, it usually just needs a quick adjustment to the mounting or a software update.

Follow these 5 steps to get back to saving water, energy, and money.

1. Check for App updates

Ensure you have the latest version of the ShowerStar App installed on your phone.

2. Update your Firmware

Open your ShowerStar App and check that your device has the latest firmware version uploaded. Updates often include improvements to the sensor's sensitivity.

3. Check the mounting cradle

The mounting cradle must be secured firmly to the shower pipe to sense the water vibration.

  • Check that the cable ties are fastened very tightly.

  • There should be no wiggle room between the cradle and the pipe.

  • Note: This is a 2-minute DIY install that requires no tools, so you can tighten these by hand or with pliers if needed.

4. Check the device placement

Ensure the ShowerStar unit is fully inserted into the mounting cradle. It needs to sit flush within the holder to accurately detect the flow.

5. Perform 'Learn Mode' or move the device

If the device is still not sensing the water, the sensor might not be picking up the vibration at that specific spot on the pipe.

  • Try mounting the cradle at a different location on the shower pipe.

  • Perform Learn Mode via the App to recalibrate the sensor to the new position.
