How does the ShowerStar water-saving timer work?

ShowerStar uses a simple, intuitive traffic light system to guide you towards a shorter, more efficient shower without the need for strict enforcement. By providing real-time visual cues, the device offers a gentle behavioural nudge that helps your family save water, energy, and money.

Here is how the colour-coded system works:

  1. Green (Start): As soon as you turn on the water, the ShowerStar glows Green. This indicates you are in the safe zone. Take your time to wash and enjoy the water knowing you are being efficient.

  2. Amber (Warning): As you approach the recommended time limit, the light shifts to Amber. This is your visual cue to begin rinsing off and wrapping up. It’s a friendly reminder that keeps your routine on track without feeling intrusive.

  3. Red (Stop): When the light turns Red, you have reached the maximum efficient shower time. This signals that it is time to turn off the taps.

Why this method works

Unlike standard timers that just count down minutes, ShowerStar focuses on behaviour modification. The lights are universally understood symbols that make conservation effortless for everyone, from young children to adults.

  • Household Harmony: It removes the need for parents to nag or knock on the door. The light does the talking.

  • Tangible Savings: Following the red light consistently can save the average family significant amounts on yearly utility bills.

  • Eco-Impact: Reducing your shower time creates a positive ripple effect on our collective environmental footprint.
